	Born 1/5/1961 in Tomašanci near Đakovo, Croatia. Graduated acting in 1984 at Academy of Dramatic Art at University of Zagreb. Played more than hundred important theatre roles and gained a status of principal drama artist. Besides acting, she also directs and writes drama. In 2013 she directed her own drama text Hana and Hana at Croatian National Theatre in Osijek. She played in TV dramas, soap operas, and was included in educational TV programme. In 2013 she celebrated 30 years of acting and got an award from Croatian Association of Actors for contribution to Croatian theatre and theatre arts. Since 1992 she teaches at Faculty of Education. She teaches Drama Education, Drama games, Puppetry, Puppetry games. She published a number of professional and scientific works. She is the author of a handbook Drama plays for preschool kids (2009), two poetry collections Cross-fade of theatre beauty (2009) and Ego Twilight (2012), four dramas in a book Women in Parts (2012), dramatization of Nazor's White deer (2012), monodrama Lioness's Revenge (2011), Reaching acting maturity(2018.).She is the head of Arts Department. She is a conductor of many projects, drama and puppetry workshops. She is a member of many theatre committees. She holds a number of letters of thanks, awards and honours (in 2009 she got a public honur Golden plaque „The City of Osijek Stamp“ for special achievements in theatre culture and education)...

	Jelena Kovačević was born in Osijek in 1982, where she attended elementary school and high school. In 2005 she graduated printmaking on Academy of Fine Arts Zagreb, after which she mastered printmaking on Academy for Fine Arts and Design, Ljubljana. In 2020 she obtained her Ph. D. in postgraduate doctoral study in painting, on Academy of Fine Arts Zagreb. Currently she is finishing postgraduate specialist study of art therapy, on Academy for Arts and Culture and Faculty of Medicine Osijek. She is an associate professor in Faculty of Education Osijek. She presented her work in many solo and group exhibitions.

About the Department

The Department of Arts was established in October 2012 after the division of the Department of Humanities into the Department of Philology and the Department of Arts. In the academic year of 2018/2019, the conditions for the organization of the Department of Arts were obtained with two departments: the Department of Musical Arts and the Department of Fine Arts.

The mission of the Department of Arts is to promote excellence in artistic, educational and scientific work in the fields of music, fine arts, drama and puppet arts, as well as music, fine arts, drama and puppet pedagogy. The aim of the Department is to increase the level of quality and intensity of artistic, scientific and professional work of teachers and students by initiating quality artistic and scientific projects and scientific and professional meetings with the greatest possible involvement of students, to offer the highest quality curricula and high quality of higher education in the field of arts in undergraduate and graduate studies of the Faculty of Education, expand the number of quality elective courses in the fields of music, fine arts, drama and puppetry, increase student involvement in project and extracurricular activities in various artistic fields, develop cooperation with other higher education institutions to ensure student mobility and teachers and train future teachers and educators for quality professional and creative work in educational institutions.

Within the Department of Arts, the idea was developed to encourage students of teacher and pre-school education to express themselves in various arts as much as possible and to publicly present their own works in the fields of music, drama, puppetry and fine arts. The result was the founding of the Academic Choir (2008) under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Vesna Svalina, PhD, creative working group Dje.V.E. (2008) under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Jelena Kovačević. M.A., and the EKTe Art Festival - art through education (2015) under the guidance of Professor Mira Perić. For the last ten years, students have regularly organized art workshops, art exhibitions and short music programs on for the Faculty Days, and also organized charity Christmas concerts during Christmas time.

Today, the Department employs eight teachers, four of them of artistic-teaching titles, one of scientific-educational title, two of teaching titles and one associate professor. The class is held by two more associate professors - one assistant and one lecturer. Teachers in the artistic and teaching professions are prominent artists in the field of fine arts and drama. Teachers who conduct music and music-pedagogical courses are primarily engaged in scientific research activities in the field of music pedagogy. All teachers regularly participate in scientific and professional meetings and in activities popularizing the science and the arts.

	Earned a doctoral degree in 2014 fromthe Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb (postgraduate doctoral programme on fine arts) with the dissertationVisualisation of the Permutation Principles Examined on the Ornamental Patterns from the Collection of Traditionally Used Textile Stored in Museum of Slavonia. In 2003 was a graphic arts graduate at theAcademy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, in the class of professor Miroslav Šutej. Has authored and co-authored numerous exhibitions in Osijek, Zagreb, Vinkovci,Knin, Nova Gradiška etc; and abroad (Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania). Has taught Visual Arts in a primary school, and has worked as a teacher of applied arts and design in a secondary school.

Research interests	Her research work focuses on the musical competence of primary education teachers, the development of the model of music education of future teachers, musical abilities, the method of teaching music in school and the method of teaching music in a teacher's study, the influence of music on the general development of the child, teaching vocal and instrumental music, music performance, and the psychological factors of acquisition and development of music competencies.
	Lidija Nikolić graduated Music pedagogy study program at the Faculty of pedagogy, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, in 1996. In 2016 she acquired PhD at the doctorall studies of Science of music art - module of Music pedagogy in the Faculty of music art, University of art in Belgrade. Since 1996, she has been a music teacher for studies for future primary school teachers and preschool teachers at the Faculty of pedagogy, and today at the Faculty of education, University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Osijek in the position of a senior lecturer. She teaches on subjects: Playing the music, Choir, Singing and playing, Music theory, Music culture, Music teaching methodology, Music listening, Music culture and methodology, Children's music creativity, Music with practice, Music in an integrated curriculum, Acquiring music literacy skills.She is an author of positively reviewed and adopted curricula of compulsory musical subjects in the teacher study in 1998, 2003 and 2005 and in 2002 and 2005 in the study for preschool teachers. She exhibits papers at international scientific conferences in the field of music pedagogy and publishes scientific papers in Croatia and abroad.

	Vesna Svalina, PhD (1968) is an associate professor for music education at Faculty of Teacher Education (Department of Art, Music Subdepartment), University of Josip JurajStrossmayer in Osijek. She graduated from the study programme of music pedagogy of the University of Osijek (Faculty of Education) in 1991. She holds a Master of Music Education degree from the University of Zagreb (Music Academy, 2009) and a doctoral degree in early education and compulsory education from Faculty of Teacher Education of the University of Zagreb (2013). She is the author of the nineteen scientific papers and one book. She participated in numerous international scientific conferences at home and abroad. She is the managing editor of the journal Life and School (one of the leading pedagogical journals in Croatia) and head of the scientific research project Listening to music as an important subject area in the primary music curriculum. From 2009 to 2013 she was involved in the project Development of creativity in life-long teacher education. She has also given numerious concerts with the choirs, both in Croatia and abroad (Italy, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Switzerland). She won numerous prizes, both nationally and internationally, at different choir competitions (11 at national and 7 at international competitions). She also won three special prizes: for the best performance of the compulsory song, for best interpretation of song composed by Croatian composer and for the artistically most convincing conductor.

	Graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Široki Brijeg, Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2001.Became the Doctor of Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 2015.Since 2001 he has been continuously engaged in pedagogical work, first as a teacher of visual arts at the Technical School in Vinkovci, then as a teacher of Graphic Design and Drawing and Painting at the School of Applied Art and Design Osijek, where he was a mentor of numerous student projects, aCounselor of the Interdistrict Committee for the Art Culture/Fine Art, a multi-year member of the State Art Competition Commission (LIK).In 2012 he waspromoted to an Educational Supervisor. Since 2015, he has been employed at the Faculty of Education at the University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Osijek and at the Campus Branch in Slavonski Brod, where he teaches Fine Arts, Artistic Techniques, Methodology of Visual Arts and Visual Communication and Design. He is a mentor of numerous student workshops, exhibitions and projects. In 2018 as a part of the Erasmus+programme, he was the visiting professor at the University of Edirne, Turkey. He is the author of University textbook „Visual arts and fine arts techniques“. He has had eighteen solo exhibitions and over thirty group exhibitions at home and abroad. He has designed graphically a number of editions of the School of Applied Arts and Design Osijek and the Faculty of Education. He is the Head of the Artistic Workshop of Children's Home Sv. 	Ana Popović is a young scientist (musicology), a performing artist (trombone) and an experienced educator with almost 10 years of teaching experience. She worked with children of all ages, from preschool children to senior high school graduates, teaching various subjects: history of music, music forms, solfeggio, harmony studies, choir, piano, music appreciation. She is a professional associate and is taking part in miscellaneous music subjects at Faculty of Education, J.J. Strossmayer University in Osijek. Her field of expertise includes sociology of music, psychology of music, music history and music pedagogy. She is a PhD candidate at Doctoral School at J. J. Strossmayer University in Osijek.
