Incoming Erasmus Students
Welcome
Welcome to the Faculty of Education in Osijek and thank you for choosing our Faculty as your host institution for your Erasmus mobility programme. We are pleased to welcome incoming students for both short-term and long-term mobility periods, whether for one semester or for a full academic year.
Incoming students may attend courses within several study programmes offered at the Faculty of Education in Osijek.

Application Procedures
Before applying, please note the following:
- An interinstitutional agreement must be signed between your home institution and the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek.
- If no such agreement has been signed, please contact the Erasmus coordinator at your home institution.
- The agreement must be in place before the beginning of your mobility.

How to Apply
Step 1
Apply through the current Erasmus mobility call at your home institution.
Step 2
Your home institution must nominate you for Erasmus mobility at the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. Nominations for incoming students should be sent to the University’s International Relations Office.
Step 3
After nomination, you are required to submit the following obligatory documents:
- Application Form
- Preliminary Learning Agreement for Studies or Learning Agreement for Traineeships
- One personal photograph
- Copy of ID card or passport
- Transcript of Records
- Certificate of Erasmus+ student status
- Certificate of non-criminal record (for non-EU students only)

Step 4
Completed application documents must be submitted in scanned PDF format by e-mail to: klaudijak@unios.hr
For internships
Applications for training (Erasmus+ placement) are accepted without any specific deadlines, at least one month before the placement starts.
Before Coming to Osijek
Visa and Residence Permit
Students from EU/EEA countries and countries under a visa-free regime do not require a visa or residence permit to enter Croatia. Students coming from visa-regime countries must apply for a visa before travelling to Croatia through the Croatian Embassy in their home country.
After the application process is completed, students receive a Letter of Acceptance and Confirmation of Accommodation, which are required for visa or residence permit regulation.

Health Insurance
All incoming students must have valid health insurance for the entire duration of their stay in Croatia.
Health insurance may be arranged in one of the following ways:
- by using the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)
- through an agreement on healthcare between the student’s home country and the Republic of Croatia
- by obtaining an international travel and health insurance policy valid in Croatia
- by arranging health insurance through the Croatian Health Insurance Fund upon arrival
The cost of health insurance arranged in Croatia is approximately EUR 60.
Accommodation
Students may choose between university accommodation and private accommodation.
Accommodation in a double room in the student dormitory located on the University Campus costs approximately EUR 115 per month.
Private accommodation is also available and usually ranges from approximately EUR 200 for a room to EUR 350 for a furnished apartment.

Travel
Osijek has its own airport with seasonal direct flights to selected European destinations.
The nearest major airport in Croatia is Zagreb Airport. Travel from Zagreb to Osijek takes approximately 2.5 hours by car or 4 hours by bus.
Other nearby international airports include Budapest and Belgrade, both approximately 4 hours by bus from Osijek.
Upon Arrival
Step 1 – International Relations Office
Upon arrival in Osijek, students must first report to the International Relations Office of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek.

Office hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Registration takes place on the first working day following arrival.
During registration, students receive further instructions regarding enrolment and other administrative formalities.
Step 2 – Student Affairs Office
After registration at the International Relations Office, students should report to the Student Affairs Office of the Faculty of Education in Osijek.

Office hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Students receive study-related information and their student card (X-card / iksica), which is used in student cafeterias and also serves as proof of student status.
During Mobility
Changes to the Learning Agreement
Changes to the original Learning Agreement are possible and should preferably be made within one month of arrival. Any changes must be approved by both the Erasmus coordinator at the home institution and the Erasmus coordinator at the Faculty of Education in Osijek.
Once approved, the changes must be entered in the During the Mobility section of the Learning Agreement.
Courses
All courses listed in the Learning Agreement for Studies are offered in English. Students usually select courses within their own field of study. If you wish to attend courses outside your main study area, please contact the Erasmus coordinator in advance. Please note that some courses may require prior approval from the course teacher due to limited capacity.
Students may also attend courses at other faculties of the University of Osijek, provided that class schedules allow regular attendance.

Croatian Language Course
The University of Osijek offers a Croatian Language Course for Foreigners, intended especially for Erasmus students. The course is available in both the winter and summer semester and carries 6 ECTS credits. Students staying for the full academic year may take the course once.
Exams
Examination periods are held at the end of each semester. Before taking exams, students should contact the Student Affairs Office in order to obtain exam application forms. These forms must be signed by the course teachers, who also enter the final grades. All academic obligations must be completed before departure from Osijek.
Student Survey
At the end of the mobility period, students will be invited to complete a short survey regarding their academic and personal experience at the Faculty. Student feedback is highly appreciated and helps improve support for future incoming students.
Leaving Osijek
Students are required to inform the Erasmus coordinator about their departure at least 10 days in advance. Any unexpected changes to departure plans should be communicated as soon as possible.
At the end of the mobility period, the Faculty of Education in Osijek issues the Transcript of Records.
